Today we are featuring a classic English lightweight sports car.

A Lotus 7 with a Westfield body.

Westfield Sportscars Ltd. is a British sports car manufacturer that has been producing cars based on Lotus models, particularly the Lotus 7, since 1983.

As early as 1982, engineer Chris Smith began to recreate a historic sports car.

His focus was on the 1956 Lotus XI Le Mans.

The replica was built in his own garage.

Within a short time, many sports car enthusiasts became aware and showed great interest in the replica.

Demand grew enormously, and so the company Westfield Sportscars was founded.

A completely new vehicle, the Westfield 7SE, was developed, and production of the Lotus XI Le Mans was discontinued.

The Lotus 7 shown here is equipped with a Ford 1.6l engine/T9 gearbox and differential.

The engine has only been slightly modified and has approx. 130 hp.

The modifications included a 4:1 manifold, a sharper camshaft, and the use of the largest possible oversized pistons.

The fuel is pumped from the rear tank by means of a Facet fuel pump and a downstream Filterking fuel pressure regulator to the Dellorto 40mm twin carburettors.

The drivetrain of the sports car is from 1983. This counts as the year of manufacture for the entire vehicle, allowing the racer to receive an H license plate (historic vehicle registration).

The chassis with aluminium/plastic panelling is definitely younger and still in very good condition.

For years, there has been a huge fan base for these vehicles, and many owners also race their cars.
