The Broom Ocean 37 pictured here comes from the English shipyard Broom.
The origins of this traditional shipyard date back to 1898.
The motor yacht pictured was built in 1971.
Two Perkins HT 6354 engines, each with 150 HP, power the boat.
Fuel consumption is approx. 5 - 50 liters of diesel per hour, depending on how it is driven.
The two diesel pre-supply pumps supply the two diesel aggregates with fuel, thus ensuring a top speed of 18 knots, or approx. 33 km/h.
The rubber fuel hose and all-around hose clamps used ensure the best connection between the engine and the diesel pump.
The berth is the AMC Castrop Rauxel on the Rhine Herne Canal, km 38.5.
The ship is used as a holiday and family boat.
The owner and his family have already traveled the Rhine, the Rhine-Rhone Canal, along the Rhone, and across the Mediterranean to Mallorca, Ibiza, and back.
Another trip went via the Rhine, Main, Danube Canal, Danube to Budapest and back.
Of course, also to the new federal states and parts of Poland.
The Netherlands, Belgium, and Northern France have also been visited.
The North and Baltic Seas, with a crossing from England to France, are also a must.
In 2013, the family traveled via the Dortmund-Ems Canal, the Mittelland Canal, the Weser, and from Bremerhaven across the North Sea, making a stop on Norderney.
The return journey was the same way.
On this holiday trip, approx. 1200 km were covered and approx. 1,000 liters of diesel were consumed.
